Villa Balbianello
is a dream wedding venue on Lake Como

Villa del Balbianello sits on a wooded peninsula on Lake Como reachable only by boat (or by a scenic uphill walk), giving you and your guests a truly magical arrival — a perfect “wow” moment stepping off onto the dock and approaching the
villa by water.
The villa boasts lush gardens, panoramic terraces, and elegant, historic architecture. Its famous loggia arches, terraces by the lake, and garden paths framed by statues and verdant hedges create a romantic and dramatic backdrop loved by couples and photographers alike.
Beyond the beauty, there is flexibility. Whether you dream of a small intimate elopement or a larger party under the stars, Villa del Balbianello offers a range of options depending on your guest list.

Visiting hours and when you can hold a wedding
-
The villa (and park) is open to the public on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The villa is closed to the public on Mondays and Wednesdays.
-
Because of this, weddings are possible on any day of the week, but the level of exclusivity changes depending on the day you choose.
What this means for wedding planning...
-
Mondays and Wednesdays: since the villa is closed to the public, you can have the villa fully to yourselves — ideal for full exclusive weddings, dinner and dancing, photos, cocktails, etc. These days tend to be in high demand.
-
Other days (Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday): you have two main options:
-
A smaller ceremony while the villa is still open to the public. In this case the famous Loggia arches will be made private for your ceremony so that no visitors intrude.
-
A full exclusive rental after 6 pm, when the public leaves.
-
According to published rental-fee guidelines, a “full wedding” package covers up to 6 hours (ceremony + reception), with the option to purchase additional hours if you wish the event to go on later.

Areas available for your wedding day

Loggia Arches
Also known as the Loggia Durini - Romantic ceremonies (symbolic or civil) with an iconic lake-and-Alps backdrop are held here. 60 chairs can be placed in this area with standing room for extra guests if needed.

Terrace just below the Loggia arches
Here, you could enjoy welcome drinks as your guests arrive and after your ceremony, this area is ideal for cocktail hour, or 'aperitivo' as it's known to the Italians.

Segrè Dining Room
This room has a great indoors/outdoors feel with large double doors the whole way around which can be fully opened on three sides. Smaller parties can dance and dine in this space, larger groups might prefer to dance on the terrace just outside.

Segrè Terrace
There are two terraces to the side of the Segrè dining room - The larger of the two is known as the Segrè terrace and we usually use this area for dancing (with a dance floor), cake cutting, evening lounge area (with hired sofa sets), open bar and dessert buffet. With over 50 guests, a cover for this terrace is mandatory and then for both rain or shine (we are hoping for shine!) you have a great additional area that you can use.

Lower Lawn
For larger weddings with a high budget, it's possible to hire the lower lawn for events but know that you will have the additional costs of covers for all weather and flooring to protect the lawn. You will also need to hire a tent for the catering team to work out of.

Villa del Balbianello is a magical place for couples who want the full romance, history, and wow factor of a Lake Como wedding. Because of its flexibility and variety of spaces, we can create weddings that feel intimate and low-key (under the loggia, sunset cocktails in the garden) or grand and luxurious (dinner on the lakeside terrace, dancing under the stars).
