Over the years at WeddingBox, we’ve had the joy of planning weddings for couples from all over the world — but there’s something especially magical about Persian weddings on Lake Como. What started with just one Persian celebration quickly grew into many more, thanks to word of mouth. At first we were surprised when new Persian couples came to us - We thought it was a coincidence but on speaking to the guests and families, we discovered that Persian communities work very much by word of mouth and apparently knowledge that we were planning Persian weddings in Italy spread. Each wedding introduced us to new families, new traditions, and an even deeper love for the vibrant, heartfelt Persian culture.

One of the first things we fell in love with was the Sofreh Aghd. The care, symbolism and artistry that go into creating this ceremonial table are simply breathtaking. Every detail — the mirror, the herbs, the sweets, the candles — tells a story. As planners, we’re always honoured to help set the scene for such an important moment, making sure the Sofreh looks exquisite against the incredible backdrop of Lake Como.

And then… the celebration begins!

Persian weddings are known for their energy, their emotion, and of course, their love of dancing. We quickly learned that when a Persian bride tells you, “The dancefloor will be busy all night…”, you’d better believe it! At one wedding, the couple flew in their own DJ, and by sunset the atmosphere was electric. The dancefloor was absolutely packed from the first song until the very last — a sea of joy, laughter and incredible music. It’s impossible not to get swept up in the fun.

After planning so many Persian weddings, we’ve come to truly appreciate the richness of the traditions and the warmth of the families who welcome us in so openly. Every celebration teaches us something new, and it’s a privilege to bring each couple’s vision to life here on Lake Como.
